Fish Friday
(Nearly) every Friday evening, the north-western fishing village of Gouyave lets its hair down and turns over a street (and a bit more) to fish stalls.
Under canvas, you can browse among the evening’s catch, served up in a variety of ways: fried fish, grilled fish, BBQ fish, fish balls, fish loaf, fish cakes, fish pies, fish quiche, fish pizza, fish pockets, fish rissoles, fish poached in garlic, fish kebabs, lobster (in season), lambie and more.
There is usually live entertainment: drummers or a steel band. It was never designed for tourists, though plenty go. You see ‘real Grenada’; no frills, but scrupulously clean and hugely welcoming. A little town winding down for the weekend; people-watching, ‘liming’. The street is narrow and uneven, and there is not always seating for all. It fills up. This gives it authenticity, and intimacy.
Most guests leave with the feeling that they have experienced a slice of ‘real’ Grenada, and are often almost overwhelmed by the hospitality of the locals. It is enjoyed by just about everyone.
Our List of Recommended Taxi Drivers:
1./ Lennox – 414-2377
2./ Bonston – 407-3577

They are located on Grenada’s south west coast, only a 10 minute drive from Grand Anse. Based at Whisper Cove Marina in Woburn Bay, close to the picturesque, uninhabited Hog Island, the perfect setting for a kayak tour!
They have a range of trips, all of which include: kayaking tuition, free use of waterproof cameras and free taxi transfers. Their longer trips also include: delicious organic lunch or snack, ice cold drinks (beer and non-alcoholic option) and time to relax on secluded beaches.
Every trip is its’ own adventure and each one is different. You can paddle out to a deserted island, see a diverse array of the beautiful flora and fauna found in Grenada and, if you’re feeling up for it, swim in the warm, blue sea. As you glide amongst the coral reefs and mangroves you will soon forget what time it is and you’ll begin to feel at one with nature. Back on the beach, lunch, consisting of freshly prepared local specialities, has been set out for you. Sitting back with a refreshing drink you will soon realise that this is how to relax and have fun in Grenada.

9. Waterfalls
Seven Sisters Fall
A rain forest trek takes you to the first of the Seven Sisters, and a chance to invigorate yourself in the cool fresh mountain pool that flows into the Great River. Explore deeper into the rain forest in search of the other Six Sisters. It is an adventure to behold. Getting there is the joy of it as you traverse beyond the first falls along rugged trails and enchanting surroundings to reach the last sister. A guide is advised.
.Victoria Falls
Reaching these towering falls is a challenge well worth the effort for the more adventurous. Located inland south east of Victoria, it is best to have a guide to find these breathtaking falls along the St. Mark’s River.
Annandale Falls
Just a short drive from the capital, Annandale Falls are enclosed in a garden of green and a wall of rocks covered in soft ferns and other vegetation. A dip is most invigorating. Or simply revel in the beauty and sounds of the falls. Spend time in the surrounding gardens where tropical flowers and trees flourish and visit the Interpretation Centre. This is the easiest waterfall to get to and the most “touristy”.
10. Belmont Estate
Plantation Tour: Explore the fascinating story of the cocoa bean from traditional to present day methods of processing.
It is a story based on the miracles of nature – the transformation of raw cocoa into chocolate and other products; and of the people who nurture, maintain, harvest and process the cocoa delicately into world class beans. At the end of the tour sample our Grenadian chocolate and cocoa tea.
